Just found this pic on my phone. It was taken in 2015 in part of my old cubicle at Two River Theater. I don’t remember what was happening this particular moment, but I noticed something cool in the background...
🔍 Zoom in on the upper left corner portion of my bulletin board and read that little orange sign pinned there:
“I just want to drink coffee and make stuff.”
I don’t remember where I found that or when I stuck it on there. My work bulletin boards and cubicle walls were rarely very functional… mostly filled with art, memories, and randomness to keep me daydreaming and inspired. I treated my surfaces like scrapbooks.
And maybe, subconsciously, it was an early version of a vision board for me. Because though I never previously aspired to open my own business, I soon did. And about a year and a half after this pic was taken (with a few months of steady sidehustle under my belt), I took the leap and gave notice, deciding to pursue Alycia Yerves Creative full time and without a net.
I’m coming up on my 8 year anniversary of drinking coffee and making stuff full time.
It has NOT been easy.
But I am really proud of myself.
Thank you to everyone who believed in me and supported me (and continues to) throughout this 🎢 journey.
I am still here, and I am putting a big, fat, sparkly, glittery ✨2025✨ sign on my mental vision board… this is my year to make things happen.
