Iām raising funds for BCEFA in memory of the late Gavin Creel, an incredible Broadway supernova who left this earth far too soon at just 48 years old a few months ago. His legacy is not only defined by his immense talent but also by his boundless kindness. š
Last night, I watched his memorial service, and I was moved beyond words by the beautiful speeches from his best friends, Sara Bareilles & Celia Keenan-Bolger, among others. The special reunion of his co-stars from the cast of Hair to close the event made me sob like a baby.
In honor of Gavinās memory, Iām proud to be raising funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BCEFA), an organization that Gavin supported as a trustee. All donations go directly to support those in need, providing vital services such as lifesaving medications, nutritious meals, housing, and emergency assistance for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.
Tonight (12/3) at 6:45 pm ET, all Broadway theaters will dim their marquee lights to honor Gavin. A small but meaningful gesture to remember a giant. š
